Narendra Modi Biography: About
Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India and MP from Varanasi since 2014. He is the first person born in independent India to hold the post of Prime Minister of India.
Prior to this, he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from October 7, 2001, to May 22, 2014. Modi is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Born into a Gujarati Teli family of Vadnagar, Modi helped his father sell tea in his childhood and later ran his own stall. At the age of eight, he joined the RSS, with whom he was associated for a long time.
He left his home after graduation. Modi traveled across India for two years and visited many religious centers. 1969 or 1970 he returned to Gujarat and went to Ahmedabad. In 1971, he became a full-time activist for the RSS. In 1975, he had to hide for some time during a state of emergency across the country.
He joined the BJP in 1985 and held several positions within the party hierarchy until 2001, from where he gradually rose to the rank of Secretary in the BJP.
Narendra Modi Biography: As A Politician
Narendra Modi was appointed as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 due to the failing health and poor public image of the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Keshubhai Patel after the Gujarat Earthquake 2001, (earthquake in Bhuj). Modi was soon elected to the legislative assembly.
His administration has been considered harsh in the 2002 Gujarat riots, during which his operations were also criticized. However, the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) could not find any evidence to initiate prosecution proceedings. As Chief Minister, his policies were credited for encouraging economic development.
Under his leadership, the main opposition party of India, Bharatiya Janata Party, contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and achieved unprecedented success by winning 282 seats as an MP, he contested from the cultural city of Uttar Pradesh Varanasi and Vadodara parliamentary constituency of his home state of Gujarat and won from both the places.
Under his rule, India’s foreign direct investment and spending on infrastructure increased rapidly. He made several reforms in the bureaucracy and replaced the Planning Commission and formed the Niti Aayog.
Prior to this, he was the 14th Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat. He was elected Chief Minister by the people of Gujarat for 4 consecutive times (from 2001 to 2014) due to his work.
Narendra Modi, a postgraduate degree in political science from Gujarat University, is known as Vikas Purush and is currently one of the most popular leaders in the country. He is also the Indian leader with the highest number of followers (4.5 crores +, January 2019) on micro-blogging site Twitter.
He is also known as ‘ Namo ‘. Time magazine has included Modi in the list of 42 candidates for Person of the Year 2013.
As Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narendra Modi is a politician and poet. Apart from the Gujarati language, he also writes poems in Hindi with patriotism.
Narendra Modi Biography: Private Life
Narendra Modi was born in the then Bombay state of Mehsana district in Vadnagar was born in the village in a middle-class family Hiraben Modi and Damodardas Mool Chand Modi September 17, 1950.
He was the third of six children born. Modi’s family was from the ‘Modh-Ghanchi- Teli ‘ community, which is classified by the Government of India as Other Backward Classes. He is a complete vegetarian.
During the Second War between India and Pakistan, during his youth, he volunteered to serve the soldiers traveling at railway stations. In his youth he joined the student organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He simultaneously participated in the anti-corruption new construction movement.
After working as a full-time organizer, he was nominated as the representative of the organization in the Bharatiya Janata Party. Modi, who had run a tea shop with his brother in his teens, completed his schooling in Vadnagar.
As an RSS pracharak, he took the postgraduate examination in Political Science from Gujarat University in 1980 and obtained an M.Sc. degree.
Narendra Modi Biography: Early Activism and Politics
Narendra started visiting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh branch regularly when he was a student of the university. Thus began his life as a loyal campaigner of the Sangh.
He showed political activism from early life and played a major role in strengthening the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Narendra Modi’s strategy was to strengthen Shankar Singh Vaghela ‘s base in Gujarat.

Controversies and criticisms
In April 2009, the Supreme Court of India sent a special investigation team and wanted to know whether there was a conspiracy of Narendra Modi in the Gujarat riots.
This special investigation team was sent on the complaint of Zakia Jafri, the widow of Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the riots. In December 2010, the Supreme Court ruled on the SIT report that no concrete evidence has been found against Narendra Modi in these riots.
